It came about as a pleasant surprise to me...... I was feeling sick last Saturday and I remained at home without a clue as to how I would spend my day. Was resting at home when suddenly my sister-in-law called my mother-in-law. She asked about my whereabouts and invited me to Irene aunty's house. Irene aunty is my mother-in-law's sister. I was reluctant at first..... However, when my mother called me in the noon, she told me that I shouldn't miss a chance of going out.
Now, I am one of the laid back type of people. Somehow, I made up my mind and went to Irene aunty's house. In fact my brother-in-law dropped me there. Once I went there, I saw Irene aunty, her daughter and my sister-in-law busy preparing Kuswar for Christmas. I joined them. Saturday went on with preparing chakkuli and guliyo. In the evening, we had chicken with rice roti.
On Sunday, I got up lazily in the morning. After drinking the cardamom tea prepared specially by Irene Aunty, we started off our preparation of Kuswar for the day. I started with grating coconuts for chakkuli and laddu, while Iry aunty and my sister-in-law were grinding rice. Irene aunty's daughter was busy with other works like washing clothes and cleaning the house. We prepared laddu, chakkuli and khara kaddi.
But more than all this, what I enjoyed the most was the sunset by the river that evening. I called many of my close relatives as I was walking along the river bank and spoke to them. The river Phalguni was flowing smoothly. There were two boats harnessed with ropes. There were small fishes and slightly bigger ones too. How lucky is Irene aunty's family to stay close to the river. In fact my husband's house is also close to the river, but the waters near Irene aunty's house were inviting......
And to add to all of this was the sunset. During the past years of my life, I have witnessed several sunsets, but few held such an impression on me. Later that evening, we visited my co-sister's house which is close to Irene aunty's place. They too were busy preparing nevryo.
Last but not the least Santa Claus added hue to the day with his friends. I returned home the next day.
What I would suggest at this moment is whenever you get a chance to go out, make the most of it, else you might regret later.
